Where Aviation History Meets Outdoor Adventure

Once an Airport, Now a Launchpad for Urban Adventure..

Aldridge Airport: A Site with History

Our centre is based on the former Walsall Aerodrome, also known as Aldridge Airport, which first opened in the 1930s. Once serving Walsall, Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield, and Lichfield, the airfield even hosted famous aviator Amy Johnson, who performed a glider display here in 1938.

Though the airport closed in 1956, the site lives on today as a thriving community space — and the home of Walsall Outdoor Pursuits. From aviation heritage to outdoor adventure, it remains a place where people come to explore, discover, and experience something unforgettable.

Discover Challenge, Adventure, and Teamwork

We offer a wide range of exciting outdoor activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and personal growth. From climbing, abseiling, and high ropes challenges to ground-based adventures like archery, cycling, and land yachting, there’s something for everyone — whether you love heights or prefer to stay on solid ground.

Our sessions encourage communication, problem-solving, and resilience, all delivered in a safe and supportive environment. As a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Approved Activity Provider (AAP), we also deliver high-quality expedition and navigation training, helping young people develop skills that last a lifetime.

Jacobs Ladder

Can you and your teammates climb to the top? Jacobs Ladder is a giant, swinging wooden ladder where each rung gets further apart the higher you go. It’s all about teamwork, problem-solving, and communication as you figure out how to boost, balance, and pull each other up. You’ll need trust, determination, and a good sense of humour to make it to the top — and the sense of achievement when you do is unbeatable!

Reach New Heights of Adventure

Leap of Faith

How far would you go to face your fears? Climb a tall pole, take a deep breath, and leap through the air to grab a suspended bar. It’s a massive adrenaline rush and a powerful moment of personal triumph. The Leap of Faith is all about courage, focus, and self-belief — once you take that jump, you’ll feel like you can take on anything!

Gladiator challenge

Think you’ve got what it takes to climb the web? Tackle our giant cargo net — a test of balance, coordination, and determination. You’ll scramble, swing, and pull yourself up as you race to the top or work together to help your team succeed. It’s a full-body challenge that’s loads of fun and a great way to build confidence and strength.

High Aerial Challenge

Take to the skies on our thrilling high ropes adventure! Suspended above the ground, you’ll make your way across wobbly bridges, swinging logs, and tricky obstacles that test your balance and bravery. Every step pushes you outside your comfort zone — but with your teammates cheering you on, you’ll be surprised how much you can achieve. Safely harnessed and fully supported, it’s the perfect mix of challenge, excitement, and accomplishment.

High All Aboard

The High All Aboard is a powerful test of trust, balance, and teamwork. Working together, participants climb to a small platform high above the ground — supporting, guiding, and encouraging one another every step of the way. Once at the top, the final challenge is to stand together, relying on clear communication and mutual trust. This activity builds confidence, strengthens group connections, and shows just how much a team can achieve when everyone works together towards a shared goal.

Crate Challenge

The Crate Challenge is all about communication, problem-solving, and trust. Teams work together to build a tower of crates while standing on top — relying on each other for balance, coordination, and support. As the tower grows higher, participants must plan, adapt, and encourage one another to stay steady and keep climbing. It’s a fun, dynamic activity that highlights the importance of teamwork, shared responsibility, and confidence in both yourself and your team.

Abseiling

Abseiling is a thrilling challenge that builds confidence, trust, and teamwork. As participants descend safely down a vertical surface, they rely on clear communication, mutual encouragement, and the support of their team. Whether holding the rope, guiding from below, or cheering each other on, everyone plays a vital role in the process. Abseiling teaches individuals to manage fear, trust their equipment and teammates, and celebrate success together — making it a powerful experience for personal growth and team bonding.

Low Ropes

Low ropes activities are all about communication, trust, and problem-solving. As participants work together to balance, climb, and navigate obstacles close to the ground, they quickly learn the value of teamwork and support. Each challenge encourages individuals to share ideas, listen to others, and develop strategies as a group. Success depends on collaboration — not competition — making low ropes courses an excellent way to build stronger connections, boost confidence, and create lasting memories.

Climbing

Climbing is an exciting challenge that builds confidence, trust, and teamwork. As participants scale the wall, they learn to communicate clearly, support one another, and celebrate each success together. The activity encourages focus, determination, and problem-solving — helping individuals push their limits while strengthening group connections.

Adventure Starts Here

Adventure Without the Heights

You don’t need to climb or swing to enjoy the thrill of adventure. Our ground-based activities — including Archery, Cycling, Land Yachting, and Orienteering — offer challenge, teamwork, and achievement for everyone who prefers to stay grounded.

Land Yachting

Land yachting combines speed, skill, and communication. As participants learn to steer, control the sail, and manage the wind, they rely on teamwork and clear coordination to stay safe and successful. It’s an exhilarating activity that promotes trust, quick thinking, and cooperation — all while experiencing the thrill of movement and the outdoors.

Archery

Archery is a calm yet focused challenge that develops concentration, patience, and self-control. Participants learn to steady their aim, support one another, and celebrate every improvement. Working in pairs or small groups encourages encouragement and shared focus, making archery a great way to build confidence and teamwork through precision and practice.

Cycling

Cycling and mountain biking on easy trails offer a fun and accessible way to develop teamwork, fitness, and confidence. Participants learn to ride together, set a steady pace, and encourage one another across varied terrain. The activity builds endurance, coordination, and awareness while fostering a sense of shared adventure and support.

Adapted Cycling

Our adapted cycles — including hand bikes, trikes, and side-by-side bikes — make cycling accessible for everyone. These activities promote inclusion, communication, and cooperation as participants work together to ride, steer, and enjoy the journey. Adapted cycling celebrates ability and teamwork, helping everyone experience the joy of movement and shared success.
