Sneyd Water Activities Centre is based on Sneyd Lake at the Black Country University Technical

College part of the old Sneyd School site in Bloxwich.

Sailing & Paddle sports

We are a fully RYA-registered sailing centre, offering courses in sailing, windsurfing, and powerboating. Our programmes are open to all and include specially designed courses for people with disabilities, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to get out on the water and develop their skills.

Activities for all

We have a wide range of boats to suit both individual sailors and family sessions, including specially adapted boats designed for sailors with disabilities, ensuring everyone can enjoy time on the water.

Easy Transition

Our lakeside is equipped with hoisting facilities, allowing wheelchair users to safely and comfortably transition into boats. Combined with our adapted vessels and supportive team, this ensures that everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy a full and confident water sports experience.

Youth Sailing 

RYA youth sailing courses giving young people the chance to build confidence, independence, and teamwork while having fun on the water. RYA Powerboat Training

Our RYA Powerboat Training Scheme provides practical, hands-on learning for everyone — from complete beginners to experienced helms looking to support club or event safety operations. The courses follow the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) national syllabus, starting with Level 1 for basic boat handling and safety, progressing to Level 2 for more advanced skills and coastal awareness, and culminating in the Safety Boat course for those responsible for rescue and support duties. Training is delivered by qualified RYA instructors on well-equipped craft, ensuring a safe, engaging and confidence-building experience for all participants.

Learn to Paddle with True North Adventures

Discover the freedom of being on the water with our paddlesport taster sessions — the perfect way to start your paddling journey!

Whether you choose to try canoeing, kayaking, or stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), our qualified instructors will guide you through the basics in a safe and enjoyable environment. You’ll learn key paddling skills, how to stay balanced and in control, and gain confidence on the water — all while having fun!

Our sessions are suitable for complete beginners and are a great introduction to the exciting world of paddlesport. Delivered in line with Paddle UK’s national standards, these sessions provide a solid foundation for anyone wishing to continue into award or skill progression pathways.
